Remember to include some plants that are beneficial to pollinators in your garden. Here are some of our favourites that are guaranteed to be a huge boost to bees, butterflies and other pollinating insects.

Cotoneaster
Beloved by bees in flowers and birds in berry! Useful range of types available for ground cover, walls or tree specimens

Heather
Invaluable plants for bees. Choose winter and summer flowering varieties and plant in groups to create colourful ground cover.

Sedum
Easily grown perennial with heads of flowers in late summer. A magnet for butterflies

Foxglove
Elegant wildflower and great in the garden too! Bees love to tunnel into the flowers for nectar.

Verbena bonariensis
Tall, wiry stemmed perennial with tufts of violet blue flowers for months. Much fancied by bees and butterflies.

Buddleja
An amazing aptly named the butterfly bush! Easy to grow and available in a selection of colours.

Catmint (Nepeta)
Aromatic perennial with masses of blue flowers in summer. Lovely along a path edge. Bees find it irresistible.

Fuchsia
One of the few plants that can still be 'worked' by bees in wet weather. And they look great too!
