Tomorrow (Tuesday January 6th) we're celebrating Nollaig na mBan (Women's Christmas) for all the wonderful ladies in our lives.
For those unfamiliar with Nollaig na mBan, this was the name given to the twelfth and final day of Christmas on January 6th, where traditional roles in the home were supposed to be reversed.
The idea was that, to show appreciation for all the hard work women put in over the Christmas period, men would carry out the household chores whilst the women relaxed and met up informally, often enjoying a cup of tea and a bit of Christmas cake. The only down side was that very often, the women were just given the leftovers from the festive celebrations and so it wasn't so much of a treat.
That is why, we are giving every lady a complimentary delicious dessert with any lunch they purchase (no leftovers here!)
